This is a brief check in to indicate that I (and this blog) am still alive.
There's a joke in my family that I'm responsible for inventing the internet. This is obviously not true, but my involvement with various pre-Web protocols, the emergence of the Web, and transitioning a town's ISP into the Web era makes it a convenient foil against which I am blamed (or take responsibility) for modern ills of attention and vacuity.
But it's capitalism, not me. The engine which gives me a fat salary, a nice place to live and a deep sense of guilt and injustice. That's what's to blame for so much that we see as illness today.
